Honored: Malibu Dana & Butterfly Strong Receive HB Proclamation 💗

On Tuesday, October 14th, I had the great honor of once again receiving the Breast Cancer Awareness Month Proclamation from the Hermosa Beach City Council and Mayor - my fourth consecutive year, and the first time accepting it as Butterfly Strong.

This recognition means so much, not just to me, but to the incredible local survivors who joined me — our butterflies. Standing with Ali & Gina, two of our Butterfly Strong volunteers, who are also young survivors, was especially meaningful to me as a 15-year survivor — a powerful reminder that breast cancer doesn’t discriminate. Every two minutes, someone in the U.S. is diagnosed, yet there are now over 4 million survivors proving that early detection and awareness save lives.

A heartfelt thank you to the City of Hermosa Beach and Mayor Rob Saemann for their continued commitment to awareness and support. I’m deeply humbled and grateful for the beautiful pink lights that illuminate our city each October — and for KTTV FOX 11, whose coverage helped them shine even brighter during Hermosa in Pink. Those lights are more than symbolic — they represent hope, courage, and the power of community.

We are stronger together, making ripples of hope throughout the breast cancer movement.
